AFP brings 'lechon,' Christmas goods to residents, soldiers in WPS
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) disclosed Sunday, Dec. 26, that it has airdropped Christmas and relief items to residents and soldiers assigned in various military detachments and stations in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
AFP Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Andres Centino said he thought of conducting the initiative to express his appreciation to the soldiers who were sacrificing themselves to ensure the safety of the country’s territory in the WPS.
Further, he expressed hope that the simple Christmas presents could uplift the spirits of typhoon victims in Pagasa Island.

Naval helicopter AgustaWestland 109 (AW109) onboard frigate BRP Antonio Luna (FF151) delivered relief packs for residents and troops stationed in Pagasa Island after the destruction of typhoon “Odette” last week.
They also delivered “lechon” or roasted pig and noche buena packages to military personnel in Panata Island and Kota Island in the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG), Palawan.
Meanwhile, BRP Mangyan (AC71) brought Christmas presents to soldiers in Rizal Reef detachment.
A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel also met with BRP Antonio Luna to deliver packages for troops assigned in the grounded BRP Sierra Madre (LS57) in Ayungin Shoal.
