DBM releases P1-B to Typhoon Odette-affected LGUs

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released an initial P1 billion to assist affected local government units (LGUs) in six regions placed under a State of Calamity due to Typhoon Odette.

In a statement, the budget department said the funding aims to address the adverse effects and damages caused by the recent typhoon.

In particular, the financial assistance will cover affected LGUs in Region IV-B (MIMAROPA), Region VI (Western Visayas Region), Region VII (Central Visayas Region), and Region VIII (Eastern Visayas Region).

Moreover, it will also aid LGUs in Region X (Northern Mindanao) and Region XIII (Caraga).

Of the total financial assistance released, P207 million went to Western Visayas Region, P188.31 billion to Central Visayas Region, and P171.57 million to MIMAROPA.

In addition, Caraga received P167.38 million, Eastern Visayas Region got P142.5 million, and 122.99 million to Northern Mindanao.

According to the DBM, the allocations were computed based on the report of the Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) on the number of affected families or persons and damages incurred on infrastructure and agriculture sectors.

“The total funding requirement was charged from the FY 2021 Contingent Fund and shall be released directly by the Bureau of Treasury to the concerned local government units (LGUs) through their respective authorized government servicing banks,” DBM said.
