Sushmita Sen, boyfriend Rohman Shawl call it quits

Former beauty queen-turned-Bollywood star Sushmita Sen of India has announced her breakup with boyfriend Rohman Shawl.

On Instagram, Sen wrote: "We began as friends, we remain friends!! The relationship was long over...the love remains!"

Reports said that Sen and Shawl were in a relationship for around three years.

The Indian press however caught the attention of a netizen's post addressed to Shawl, a popular model.

"U owe so much to her brother. Never forget that," the netizen told Shawl.

Shawl responded: "I can never forget that!! She is my family." The handsome model had previously bonded well with Sen's daughters.

Hours after Sen's announcement, she posted another photo with the caption: "Peace is beautiful."

Sen and Shawl had a 15-year age gap. The beauty queen is 46 years old, while Shawl, 31.

The rumors about a gap in their relationship began earlier this year when Sen posted cryptic posts on Instagram.

One of them read, "The problem is women think he will change, he won't. The mistake men make is thinking she'll never leave, she will."

Sen became a household name in the Philippines when she won the Miss Universe pageant in Manila in 1994.
