Muntinlupa cops nab Antique town’s No. 1 most wanted person


Antique town’s No. 1 most wanted person will be spending Christmas in jail after the Muntinlupa police, together with the Special Action Force (SAF) and regional police captured him on Dec. 23.

Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg announced the arrest of Jumel Sarap, 34, who is the No. 1 most wanted person of Culasi, a municipality in the province of Antique with a population of 41,228.

Sarap was arrested at about 11:20 p.m. on Dec. 23 at a shopping mall in Bgy. San Dionisio in Paranaque. Personnel from Muntinlupa’s Poblacion Sub-Station 6 together with the SAF 83rd Company, Culasi Municipal Police Station and Regional Intelligence Unit 6 conducted a manhunt operation to capture Sarap.

The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for rape with no bail recommended issued by Judge Montalid Patnubay Jr., acting presiding judge of the Culasi Regional Trial Court Branch 13. Sarap’s rape case was filed in April 2017.

Sarap was brought to the Muntinlupa Custodial Facility pending the issuance of a commitment order from the court of origin.

“The arrest of the top 1 most wanted person of Culasi, Antique is a Christmas gift. This means that those wanted by the law will be arrested anywhere they go and hide through good coordination by all branches of the police. I congratulate the Muntinlupa Police Station and their companions who planned and executed to make this operation successful,” said Macaraeg.
