
The Department of Health (DOH) said that 78 health facilities were damaged in areas affected by typhoon Odette.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that this figure includes 33 hospitals, 23 barangay health stations, 19 rural health units, two DOH provincial offices, and one city health office. The DOH has yet to determine the cost of damage.
“Rapid health assessments in areas affected by Typhoon Odette are still ongoing. Also, the DOH, through our CHDs , is continuously coordinating needed logistics and providing assistance to affected health facilities and local government units,” said Vergeire.
These facilities were located in the following areas:
Hospitals
- One in Palawan (status under verification)
- 12 in Western Visayas (one is functional, while the DOH is still verifying the status of 11 others)
- 10 in Central Visayas (all are functional)
- Two in Eastern Visayas (one is functional)
- 8 in Caraga (two are functional, while the six others are still to be determined)
Barangay health stations
- Four in Central Visayas (status to be determined)
- Nine in Caraga (three are functional, while six are still to be determined)
- 10 in Western Visayas (one is functional, while nine are still to be determined)
Rural health units
- Six in Western Visayas (one is functional, while the five others are still to be determined)
- Three in Central Visayas (status to be determined)
- Three in Eastern Visayas (status to be determined)
- Seven in Caraga (one is functional, while the six others are still to be determined)
Health offices
The DOH said that its provincial office in Surigao Del Norte and the Center for Health Development in Central Visayas were damaged but were functional. Meanwhile, the status of the City Health Office of Surigao City is "yet to be determined."
