303,592 people staying in 1,242 evacuation centers as of Dec. 24, DSWD says

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) logged Friday, Dec. 24, a total of 76,293 evacuee-families or 303,592 individuals who were staying in 1,242 evacuation centers following the onslaught of typhoon Odette.

The DSWD said the number of individuals who have opted to stay with their relatives or friends decreased to 243,288 or 70,042 families.

The figures were based on the report of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) as of 6 a.m., Dec. 24.

The DROMIC report showed that the number of affected families from 5,652 barangays rose to 927,369 or 3,599,109 individuals.

The DSWD identified 10 affected regions. These are Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos), and Caraga.

Meanwhile, the number of houses damaged due to Odette further increased to 299,770. These include 95,438 totally damaged houses and 204,332 partially damaged houses.
