Preliminary conference on DQ case of Pudno nga Ilokano vs Bongbong on Jan 14
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Second Division has set the preliminary conference on the disqualification petition filed by Pudno nga Ilokano against presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on January 14.

"The parties are hereby notified that the conference of this case is set on 14 January 2022 at 10 in the morning, via video conference," the Commission said.
The poll body also ordered Marcos Jr. to file his verified answer to the petition in the summons with notice of preliminary conference that it issued.
"Respondent is hereby directed to file a verified Answer to the verified Petition, within a non-extendible period of five days from receipt hereof, copy furnished the Petitioners and with proof of receipt," it read.
The poll body said that the verified answer must be filed through e-mail, to the Clerk of the Commission, and immediately send in four hard copies to the Comelec through the fastest means available, including registered mail or any courier service.
"Failure to file a verified answer within the reglementary period shall bar the Respondent from submitting controverting evidence or from filing a memorandum," said the Comelec.
It was last Dec. 20 when the Comelec revealed that the petition of the group was raffled to their Second Division.
In their petition, petitioners said respondent is disqualified to run for or to hold any elective position, much less for the position of Philippine president, for having been found guilty by final judgment of crimes involving "moral turpitude" pursuant to Section 12 of the Omnibus Election Code; for having been found guilty, by final judgment, of a crime that carries the penalty of more than 18 months also pursuant to Sec. 12 of the OEC; for having been actually sentenced to prison correccional and is thereby effectively deprived of his "right ot suffrage" pursuant to Article 43 of the revised penal code in relation to Sec. 2 Article VII of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, and also in view of his conviction for violation of Sec. 45 of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1977 which in itself already carries the accessory penalty of perpetual disqualification from public office pursuant to Sec. 286 of the NIRC of 1977.
The petitioners are Margarita Salonga Salandanan, Crisanto Palabay, Mario Ben, Danilo Consumido, Gil Derilo, Raoul Tividad, Nida Gatchalian and Nomer Kuan who are mostly from Ilocos.
