CEBU CITY – More fatalities due to typhoon Odette were recorded exactly a week after typhoon Odette battered the island of Cebu.
The death toll in Cebu island reached 96 as of Thursday, Dec. 23.
Cebu's Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) recorded 17 additional fatalities, raising its death toll to 63.
The town of Alcoy tallied the most fatalities with 13 followed by Dalaguete with eight.
In Cebu’s highly urbanized cities, Cebu City's death toll increased to 17 after tallying two more deaths last Wednesday, Dec. 21.
The typhoon also claimed the lives of nine persons in Lapu-Lapu City.
The entire Cebu island remains under state of calamity with most areas still without electricity, water and stable telecommunications signal.
