The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has authorized 31 ships to carry relief goods and serve as transportation for passengers in areas devastated by typhoon “Odette".
MARINA Administrator Robert A. Empedrad, more domestic ship owners and operators should apply for special licenses in places where resources are most needed, adding that the agency would give such applications priority when processing them.
As per the statement, at least 11 ships are presently operating various routes in Surigao and Southern Leyte, and 20 more were authorized to resume operations in other "Odette"-affected areas, urging them to prioritize delivery of relief supplies from various donors.
