LPA outside PAR dissipates, no longer expected to affect PH – PAGASA
The low pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has weakened and it is no longer expected to affect the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Dec. 23.

“‘Yung LPA na ating binabantayan ay nawala na po ‘yung sirkulasyon o humina na po. Sa kasalukuyan ay isa na lamang po itong ganap na cloud cluster o kumpol ng mga kaulapan na may dala pong malawakang pag-ulan (The LPA we are monitoring has weakened and became a cloud cluster that may bring rain showers),” said PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren in a public weather forecast.
“Ngunit kung makikita natin, ito ay nasa labas ng PAR at malayo po sa ating landmass kaya hindi natin inaasahan na magdudulot po ito ng pag-ulan sa anumang bahagi ng bansa (However, it is outside PAR and it is far from our landmass, that’s why it is not expected to bring rains over any part of the country),” Clauren added.
In the next 24 hours, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and localized thunderstorms may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, Batanes and Babuyan Islands may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan.”
The State weather bureau said that no weather disturbance is expected to develop or enter PAR in the next two to three days. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
