Converge connects typhoon-hit Siargao island using satellite technology

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has installed very small aperture terminals (VSAT) in typhoon-hit Siargao island to provide emergency internet connectivity using satellite broadband technology.

In partnership with the Municipality of Dapa in Siargao, the VSAT terminals will power the command center and help support the disaster response and recovery capability of the local government unit as well as the better coordination in the deployment of relief goods.

“Our teams are now in ground zero of Siargao to set up our satellite equipment in order to assist the local government. In the past few days, we’ve seen how internet connectivity can spell the difference between life and death at this time as we rely heavily on it to communicate and organize all efforts. We hope that our technology will be able to help the LGU in their recovery efforts and provide our kababayans the help they need at the fastest possible time,” said Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge CEO and Co-Founder.
