ILOILO CITY — A team of electric cooperatives from Aklan and Capiz provinces have been deployed to the island province of Guimaras to help restore power lines affected by Typhoon Odette.
Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO) and Capiz Electric Cooperative (CAPELCO) have sent teams to Guimaras to help Guimaras Electric Cooperative (GUIMELCO) restore its power lines.

“AKELCO is part the service to the Guimarasnon in the spirit of bayanihan,” AKELCO said in a statement.
“In response to the call for help among Electric Cooperatives all over the country, a team from CAPELCO will be deployed to help restoration effort in the island of Guimaras heavily damaged at the aftermath of Typhoon Odette,” CAPELCO added in a separate statement.
The deployment of AKELCO and CAPELCO personnel to Guimaras is part of the Task Force Kapatid, which is initiated by the Department of Energy (DOE) in the aftermath of Odette.
“Thes team might be spending their Christmas and New Year away from their family but because of our shared responsibility to the member-consumer-owners (MCOs) of our sister-cooperatives, they will make that sacrifice,” emphasized CAPELCO.
“There is even a possibility that, after helping in Guimaras, they might be redeployed in Negros Occidental province to help restoration efforts in the area,” CAPELCO added.
