
Another 288 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, Dec. 23.
The country's running tally is now at 2,837,903. Of this figure, 9,251 patients are still sick, the DOH said.
“Of the 288 reported cases today, 241 (84 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days (Dec. 10- Dec. 23, 2021). The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (63 or 26 percent), Region 6 (38 or 16 percent) and Region 4-A (27 or 11 percent),” the DOH said.
It was noted that of the active cases, 3,393 are in moderate condition, 3,204 have mild symptoms, 1,797 have severe symptoms, 480 have no symptoms, and 377 are in critical condition.
The death toll rose to 50,981 or equivalent to 1.79 percent of the case count. Sixty-five more people were confirmed to have died, the DOH said.
Meanwhile, 270 more individuals recuperated, raising the recovery tally to 2,777,671 or 97.9 percent of the country’s case total.
The DOH noted that 13 laboratories were not able to submit their data to the DOH COVID-19 system. Their data is not yet included in the latest count.
