San Juan CSWD conducts house-to-house visits to check single parents' eligibility

The San Juan City Social Welfare Department (CSWD) conducted house-to-house visits to determine if all single-parent residents who registered for San Juan's Single-Parent ID are eligible.

In a set of photos posted on its official Facebook page, members of the CSWD can be seen being deployed to various barangays in the city to personally monitor and inspect all Single-Parent ID registrants as the city government continues to ramp up its efforts and services for single-parents.

The CSWD said the applicants must first pass all the requirements of Republic Act No. 8972, the Solo Parents' Welfare Act of 2000, which determines the eligibility of a person to be considered as a single-parent.

On March 25, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora announced that the city plans to establish the San Juan Solo Parents Office in an effort to support the needs of solo parents living and working in the city.

“Importante po na magkaroon tayo ng solo parents association at patatagin natin ito dahil alam natin kung gaano kahirap ang maging solo parent lalo pa ngayon sa gitna ng pandemya (It is important to have a solo parents association and strengthen it because we know how difficult it is to be a solo parent especially during this pandemic),” Zamora said.

The mayor said the the first step for this initiative is to support the interim heads of the association and to properly set up the San Juan Solo Parents Office at the city hall.

“Kailangan nila ito sa pamamahala ng mga programa at proyektong makakatulong sa mga solo parents ng San Juan at sa kanilang mga anak (The office is needed for the management of programs and projects that can help solo parents in San Juan and their children),” Zamora said.
