More than P38.7-M worth of humanitarian aid extended to 'Odette' victims —DSWD
The humanitarian assistance extended to the typhoon victims has increased to more than P38.7 million, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Wednesday, Dec. 22.

As of 6 p.m., Dec. 22, the assistance provided by the DSWD, local government units, and non-government organizations to the families affected by the onslaught of typhoon Odette totals P38,736,287.61, based on the latest report of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC).
The report noted an increase in the number of affected families and those staying in evacuation centers.
The number of affected families from 4,909 barangays rose to 692,555 or 2,684,817 individuals.
The DSWD logged 102,636 evacuee-families or 410,246 individuals. They were staying in 1,915 evacuation centers.
Meanwhile, the number of families who opted to stay with their relatives and friends decreased to 70,781 or 242,090 individuals.

The DSWD identified 10 affected regions. These are Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos), and Caraga.
The DROMIC report likewise showed that the number of houses damaged due to Odette increased to 165,246. These include 63,686 totally damaged houses and 101,560 partially damaged houses.
The DSWD Western Visayas said in a Facebook post that family food packs (FFPs) have been distributed on Wednesday, Dec. 22, in Sitio Unisan (Island Sitio), Barangay Guiwanon in Nueva Valencia Guimaras. A total of 139 affected families received FFPs.
In a separate Facebook post, the DSWD Field Office VII said aid has also been extended to the affected families in Olango island, Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu.
It posted photos showing that FFPs were loaded to a helicopter for delivery to Lapu-Lapu City.
The transportation of the food packs was made possible through the effort of DSWD VII, Philippine Air Force (PAF), and Lapu-Lapu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
