Forget Manila Zoo! It is now Manila Zoological
It seems like the soon-to-open renovated park in Manila City is going back to its former name as depicted on the images released by the Manila Public Information Office. In the series of photos Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Domagoso is seen touring the refurbished park with vice mayor, Honey Lacuna.

At the facade of the new zoo is a statue of an elephant, which the mayor thinks will be a good photo spot for visitors during a live-streamed tour. Among the new things to see in the wildlife park are the souvenir shop, a station for Philippine endemic creatures, and a botanical garden. Early in December, the mayor teased about the opening of the zoo, saying that we can now finally have a zoological garden that could match the Singapore Zoo.
“Matutupad na natin ang pangarap natin na lumaban sa Singapore Zoo dahil sa may Manila Zoo tayong mga batang Maynila. Galing po ako nung isang araw, sumilip po ako. Naku, matutuwa po kayo (We will be able to fulfil our dream of competing with the Singapore Zoo because we have the Manila Zoo, children of Manila. I went the other day, I peeked. You will be happy),” said the Manila mayor.
According to a previous report by the Manila Bulletin, the zoo will also house a museum, a restaurant, a veterinary hospital, new animal habitats, a coffee shop, and a new parking area.
