DOH continues to assess damage to health facilities due to 'Odette'

The Department of Health (DOH) said it is still conducting an assessment on health facilities that were damaged because of typhoon Odette.
“Patuloy ang paga-assess ng mga nasirang healthcare facilities—mga hospital, temporary treatment and monitoring facilities at inaalam pa po kung magkano ang mga halaga nito (We continue to assess the damage in the healthcare facilities — hospitals, temporary treatment and monitoring facilities and we are still determining the cost),” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III during President Duterte’s Talk to the People aired on Tuesday night, Dec. 21.
The DOH reported on Monday, Dec. 20, that at least seven health facilities were damaged.
These include two hospitals, three barangay health stations, and one provincial health office in Caraga region; while one Center for Health Development in Central Visayas was also reportedly damaged.
Duque assured that the DOH continues to monitor the situation in the areas in Visayas and Mindanao hit by the typhoon to ensure the “swift provision of necessary assistance and health services.”
“Sinabihan ko na po ang lahat ng regional directors ng mga naapektuhan na rehiyon na gamitin sa lalong madaling panahon ang kanilang quick response funds (I have instructed all regional directors of the affected regions to use their quick response funds as soon as possible),” he said.
