The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Provincial Office of Surigao del Norte set up a free charging station in Surigao City.

Several areas in the Visayas and Mindanao, including Surigao del Norte, Camiguin, Biliran, and Bohol, lost their power supply and telecommunication lines after Typhoon Odette battered power transmission and distribution facilities and caused multiple fiber cable cuts.

"Since electric power in the city is still out, Suriganonons are in desperate need to recharge their phones, flashlights, power banks, and other gadgets," DICT said.
The charging station, located at the DICT Surigao del Norte Provincial Office, runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
Surigao City have been placed under a state of calamity on Tuesday, Dec. 21, due to the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.
