The Valenzuela City government approved on Monday, Dec. 20, a resolution providing P26 million worth of assistance, both in cash and in-kind, to the victims of typhoon "Odette".
Vice-Mayor Lorena Natividad-Borja, signed the resolution intended to help the people who were affected by the typhoon in the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Surigao Del Norte, Dinagat Islands, and Southern Leyte.
The amount will be taken from the Quick Response Fund for the year 2022 of Valenzuela's Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF).
It will be allocated to the cities and municipalities in the provinces as follows:
• Cebu - P9,000,000
• Bohol - P5,000,00
• Surigao Del Sur - P6,500,000
• Dinagat Island - P1,000,000
• Southern Leyte - P4,500,000
On Tuesday, Dec. 21, the city's "VCCares" team, led by Sen. Win Gatchalian along with the city vice-mayor and the Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), flew to Southern Leyte to give the financial assistance.
They will visit the other provinces on the following days.
Typhoon Odette hit the provinces last Dec. 16 and 17, causing deaths, injuries, and damage to properties and livelihood.
