Year 2 of this pandemic and Netflix is going strong. What would we have done without our beloved red N? Here they come, rescuing us from our masked lives and taking us back on a trip to lovely Paris!

Admittedly, last year's season 1 of Emily in Paris were met with a lot of critiques from movie and show reviewers (except this writer, who loved the series). They picked the show apart and said it’d flop like a fish out of water. And yet, the viewers loved Emily and her adventures. It got two Gold Globe nominations and Emmy’s. What can I say? We viewers loved Emily’s quirks, her style and her freshness. And the show was a hit! Viewers like myself were eagerly awaiting what happens next.
And finally, here she is, Lily Collins is back as Emily for season 2, and she is just as lovely and fresh as ever. It seems that her costars have also taken a whiff of whatever perfume Emily wears because we’re starting to see more color where before it was always black.
Ashley Park as Mindy Chen, Phillippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Slyvie and Samuel Arnold as work pal Julian. Lucas Bravo also stars as Gabriel, Camille Razat as Camille, William Abadie as Antoine Lambert and Lucien Laviscount as the newly added Alfie.
This time, however, we see a slightly more mature Emily. Someone who is not so focused on ramming her colorful square peg into the circular black holes of Paris but in managing the myriad of triangles around her. Love triangles, that is. I’ll say no more to prevent spoiling the twists for you. But it’ll make you shake your head, wag your finger and throw your hands up in the air crying “sacré bleu!”

Don’t forget to turn on your red N’s on Dec. 20 to find out what happens to the gang in Paris! (Margaret Rose Tipton Siytangco)
