Various weather systems such as the northeast monsoon, shear line, and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) prevail across the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Dec. 21.

In the next 24 hours, the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan”, may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Ilocos Region, said PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio in a public weather forecast.
Meanwhile, the shear line, also called tail-end of frontal system, may bring cloudy skies and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Cagayan Valley and Aurora.
Those residing in Mindanao are likewise warned against scattered rain showers and thunderstorms that the ITCZ may bring.
The state weather bureau said that the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in the next 24 hours due to localized thunderstorms. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
