The Quezon City government will donate P10 million assistance to the municipalities affected by typhoon "Odette".
The Quezon City Council has filed Resolution No. SP 8797, S-21 authorizing City Mayor Joy Belmonte to donate P10,000,000 to typhoon-ravaged areas in Southern Leyte.
The resolution was proposed by Councilors Franz Pumaren, Donny Matias and Wency Lagumbay, and co-introduced by the other members of the Quezon City Council.
The amount will be equally distributed to the municipalities of Anahawan, Hinundayan, Libagon, Padre Burgos, Pintuyan, San Francisco, San Juan, San Ricardo, Tomas Oppus, and Limasawa in Southern Leyte.
The towns were selected with the help of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional office.
“This is our way of trying to show that Quezon City is willing to help out the municipalities that were badly damaged by Super Typhoon Odette," Pumaren said.
“Kami po ay taos-pusong nakikiramay sa mga pamilyang lubhang naapektuhan ng Bagyong Odette, lalo na sa mga nawalan ng mahal sa buhay. Nawa'y magkaroon kayo ng lakas ng loob at katatagan sa krisis na inyong kinakaharap (We sincerely sympathize with the families severely affected by Typhoon Odette, especially those who have lost loved ones. May you have courage and resilience amid the crisis you are facing)," Mayor Belmonte said.
Belmonte issued a certificate of urgency for the immediate approval of the resolution.
The P10 million financial aid is apart from the P100 million fund from the savings of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
