The Makati City local government reported on Monday, Dec. 20, a steady decline in COVID-19 cases in the city, with just 19 active cases on record.
According to the Makati Health Department (MHD), the city has also tallied 44,171 recoveries and 986 deaths.
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay reminded her constituents to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones from the coronavirus and its variants, especially as Christmas draws near.
On Dec. 14, the Department of Health – Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) recognized Binay and the local government unit (LGU) for the city’s outstanding COVID-19 response and achievements in battling COVID-19.
DOH-MMCHD commended Makati after achieving 100 percent of its COVID-19 vaccination coverage of its targeted eligible population.
The agency also gave Binay a certificate of appreciation for providing assistance to neighboring cities during the National COVID-19 Vaccination Days or Bayanihan, Bakunahan held on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
The MHD also received a certificate of appreciation from DOH-MMCHD for providing assistance to other health workers during the National COVID-19 Vaccination Days.
