The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday, Dec. 21, reported 168 more cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19)---the lowest in 19 months.

Tuesday's number of cases was the lowest since May 22, 2020 when the country logged 163 infections then.

However, the DOH case update excludes data from 24 laboratories.

The DOH said there were four laboratories that "were not operational" while there were "20 laboratories which were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS)" on time.

Also, the death toll jumped by 10 to 50,794 fatalities.

There were 372 more survivors, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,777,541.

The country's cumulative tally of cases stood at 2,837,719, of which 9,384 or 0.3 percent remain as active infections.

It was noted that "179 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count."

Of the active cases, 3,289 patients are listed as mild, 508 are asymptomatic, 377 are critical, 1,804 have severe symptoms, and 3,406 are in moderate condition.
