Police arrested one of the robbers who held up a taxi driver at gunpoint in Taguig on Dec. 19.
The Taguig police said at about 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 19, the cab driver (name withheld) was flagged down by suspect Neil Marasigan, 24, and his two companions along Cayetano Boulevard in Bgy. Ususan, Taguig.

When they reached C6 in Bgy. Sta. Ana, one of the suspects pointed a gun at the driver and declared a holdup. His companions took the victim’s cell phone worth P7,000, dash cam worth P25,000, P1,200 in cash and a silver necklace.
The three suspects fled in different directions while the victim immediately sought assistance from the barangay security forces (barangay tanod) in Bgy. Sta. Ana.
The driver was able to identify Marasigan from the photo gallery of the barangay. The barangay tanod conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the Marasigan while his companions are still at-large.
Marasigan was turned over to the Taguig police and is now at the station detention management unit.
“We see that our PROTECT seminars bore fruit, which was aimed at teaching basic self-defense and arresting techniques to our force multipliers,” said Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg.
He added that “the truth is we lack police officers in SPD but through our force multipliers, we have added force for the security of our area of jurisdiction.”
