Be responsible stewards of the environment this Christmas – Bishop Ongtioco
Cubao Bishop Honesto F. Ongtioco has called on the faithful to be responsible stewards of the environment this Christmas.

Christmas is about the birth of Christ who has entrusted to man His creations. As stewards of God’s creations, mankind must take utmost care of the environment for the future generation, the Church leader said.
"This Christmas, let us think of how we can better take care of our environment and show respect for God’s creations. Let us strive to nurture and enhance nature and our environment,” Bishop Ongtioco said over Radio Veritas.
The Church leader stressed that abuses done to the environment have resulted in destructive calamities that have claimed lives and destroyed properties such as typhoon Odette that severely affected several areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.
"We have not been taking good care of our environment. Illegal and destructive mining as well as illegal logging and deforestation are rampant and widespread. It is a call for all of us to properly care for our environment as stewards of God’s creations,” said Bishop Ongtioco.
"May love, unity and charity prevail this Christmas as we help each other recover from life’s difficulties and trials,” the prelate said.
