5 reasons you should watch 'Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts' on New Year's Day
By Angie Chui

It’s been 20 years since the first Harry Potter movie introduced us all to the likes of Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Daniel Radcliffe along with the magical world of Hogwarts.
As the gang celebrates two decades of the successful movie franchise borne from the imagination of J.K. Rowling, the cast and crew come together and revisit the set of the series, along with some telling interviews on what went on while they were shooting the beloved franchise.
For any Potterhead, the trailer enough was enough to inspire goosebumps as the idea of Hogwarts’ best and worst coming together as adults is already mind-blowing. Here’s what we got so far.
Hermione and Ron. While many fans have often shipped Hermione with Harry, the shippers of Mr. Weasley and Miss Granger will be charmed by the interaction between Rupert Grint and Emma Watson on screen as they talked about watching each other grow up. They talked about how the relationship they developed on the set of the franchise will never be broken. “We’re family, and we will always be part of each other’s lives,” Rupert says. Awww.
Emma and Tom. Pundits have often talked about the closeness of Emma Watson and Tom Felton, who played the infamous Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, in real life. Some have even speculated if the pair were a couple in real life. We catch a glimpse of their interaction when they meet each other in the Great Hall and give each other a big hug as soon as they meet.
The Hogwarts kids are all grown up. Since the conclusion of the Harry Potter franchise, the young actors have all made a mark on the entertainment industry in their ways. Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) has made waves for his transformation from a chubby young boy to a hottie with his fair share of
success in British film and TV. Dean Thomas (played by Alfred Enoch) would be more familiar nowadays as Wes Gibbins in How to Get Away with Murder. Of course, Robert Pattinson headlined the Twilight franchise and is now the latest actor to play the role of the Dark Knight in the Batman franchise.
Daniel’s greatest fear. The trailer teased Daniel Radcliffe’s confession about his fear about ending the franchise and his realization that there is still life after the Harry Potter movies ended. The actor has become quite successful on stage and mainstream, landing roles in interesting movies like Woman in Black, Horns, Now You See Me, and What If? He is set to appear as the villain in Sandra Bullock and
Channing Tatum’s adventure romance The Lost City next year.
Helena, Ralph and Alan. The Harry Potter franchise had plenty of veterans on its roster. Helena Bonham-Carter, who played the formidable villainess Bellatrix Lestrange shared her fair share of difficulty in shooting some scenes while Ralph Fiennes confessed why he was compelled to take on the role of Voldemort. Unfortunately, Alan Rickman, who played one of the most pivotal characters in the
series, Professor Snape passed away several years ago, so he will be missed by fans of the franchise for his contributions in bringing such a complex character to life.
The Harry Potter Reunion Special will air on HBO Max on New Year’s Day.
