1 dead, 1 hurt in Marikina road mishap

A man was killed while another was injured when a 12-wheeler truck with a backhoe cargo went wayward and plowed through several vehicles along Champaca street in Barangay Marikina Heights, Marikina City on Tuesday, Dec. 21.

According to a DZBB live report, Marikina City Rescue 161 said the victim died on the spot after his body was pinned under the front wheels of the 12-wheeler truck.

The driver of the truck said the brakes failed but insisted that the 12-wheeler truck had been inspected before the trip.

He also said that he did not notice that a man had been ran over until after he had exited the truck to inspect the damage after the accident.

The driver of a Mitsubishi L-300 light truck sustained injuries when his vehicle was hit by the 12-wheeler.

Another delivery truck that was parked along the street was also damaged.

No other injuries or casualties were reported. The victim has not yet been identified as of this writing.
