The Xavier University (XU) - Ateneo de Cagayan opened its main campus in Divisoria to provide shelter for 25 families from three barangays in the city amid the onslaught of Typhoon "Odette."

Xavier Ateneo volunteers led by Director for Student Social Involvement and Advocacy Program Nestor Banuag and Central Student Government Andre Robert Daba provided food packs and bottled mineral water in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development.
The University also provided breakfast for the evacuees served at the University Magis Canteen.
Typhoon Odette brought heavy damage across Visayas and Mindanao.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, over 1.8 million people were affected by the impact of Typhoon "Odette."
The deaths from Typhoon "Odette" rose to at least 169 as of Sunday, Dec. 20. While 50 individuals remained missing.
Deaths were reported on the island of Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Southern Leyte, Bukidnon provinces, Iloilo, Cebu, and Lapu-lapu.
