Sara postpones final State of the City Address to attend delivery of aid in Typhoon-hit areas


DAVAO CITY - The City Government of Davao announced on Monday, December 20, that Mayor Sara Duterte's State of the City Address (SOCA) will be postponed to January 2022 as the mayor will join the BBM-Sara Uniteam in delivering assistance to areas affected by Typhoon Odette.

"The State of the City Address is postponed to January 2022. Mayor Inday Sara Duterte will join the Uniteam in the delivery of aid in affected areas caused by Typhoon Odette," the city government said on its Facebook post.

Duterte, who is a vice presidential aspirant, was scheduled to delivery her last SOCA as city mayor today, December 20.

The mayor also encouraged Dabawenyos to empathize with those who lost their loved ones and continue to suffer from the effects of the typhoon.

"Let us pray for our fellow Filipinos amidst this crisis," Duterte said.

The city government also sent rescue and medical teams from City Health Office, Davao City Central 911's Emergency Medical Sevices (EMS), Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), Fire Auxiliary Services (FAS), Southern Philippines Medical Center doctors, and social workers from City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

The delegation is headed to Municipality of Ubay, Bohol Province, for relief and rescue operations to those greatly affected by Typhoon Odette.
