The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Monday, Dec. 20, the number of families affected by the onslaught of typhoon Odette in nine regions increased to more than 465,000 or over 1.8 million individuals.
The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) said as of 6 p.m, Dec. 20, a total of 465, 237 families or 1,851,409 individuals from 3,533 barangays have so far been affected by the typhoon.
The DROMIC said the number of families who were staying in 2,589 evacuation centers increased to 119,183 or 478,019 individuals.
It said a total of 58,527 families or 193,043 individuals preferred to stay with their relatives and friends.
The affected regions were Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, and Caraga.
Meanwhile, the DSWD reported 54,785 damaged houses, 34,681 of which were partially damaged and 20,104 were totally damaged.
Based on the DROMIC report, the humanitarian assistance extended to the typhoon victims amounted to more than P14.58 million.
The aid was extended by the DSWD, local government units (LGUs) and non-government organizations (NGOs).
