Only 6 active COVID-19 cases recorded in Muntinlupa amid Omicron threat
The Muntinlupa City government has recorded only six active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases amid the threat of the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
As of Dec. 19, the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) registered two patients who have recovered from COVID-19, zero new cases, and zero deaths to bring the total active cases to six from eight the previous day.

The six remaining active cases are out of the total 27,600 confirmed cases, 27,015 recoveries, and 579 deaths from COVID-19 since last year. Muntinlupa’s active cases have been at a single-digit level since Dec. 16.
Out of the nine barangays in Muntinlupa, five now have zero active COVID-19 cases. These are Barangays Putatan, Bayanan, Alabang, Buli, and Sucat.
Barangays Poblacion, Ayala Alabang, and Cupang have two active cases each while Tunasan has one.
On Dec. 20, the Department of Health (DOH) reported a third case of the Omicron variant in the country. The new case is a 36-year-old male who is a returning overseas Filipino.
He is a sea-based overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who arrived from Qatar at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) on Nov. 28.
The unvaccinated OFW is currently asymptomatic. He was quarantined at an isolation facility upon arrival. He tested positive on Dec. 5. He is currently under home quarantine in Cavite. His retest on Dec. 19 yielded negative results.
The Muntinlupa City government reminded the public to still adhere to the minimum public health standards amid the threat of the Omicron variant.
It urged people to stay home if they have no important things to do outside their residence, wear face masks, avoid crowded places, observe physical distancing and frequently wash their hands. It also encouraged residents to register and get vaccinated as a protection against the severe effects of COVID-19.
