The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported at least 169 fatalities – so far – in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette, with figures culled from its stations in the Visayas and Mindanao showing that there could be more than 50 more persons missing.

And it is of no help that electricity and telecommunication service continue to be down in several areas in the VisMin island.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also disclosed that the number of evacuees in eight regions was expected to rise over 279,000.

Reports on the destruction and mayhem left by “Odette” dominate our top stories this Monday morning, Dec. 20, 2021.
