CEBU CITY —The death toll here caused by typhoon has climbed to 15.
Renzo Del Rosario, Data Management Chief of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said 200 persons were also injured at the height of the typhoon, which struck Metro Cebu on Thursday, Dec. 16.
Of the 15 fatalities, three came from Barangay Apas, another three from Barangay Tisa, two from Barangay Basak Pardo and one each from Barangays Buhisan, Camputhaw, Pit-os and San Roque, Tejero and T. Padilla.
Del Rosario said not included in the data are figures coming from mountain barangays which could not be collated immediately due to poor communication signals.
The city is composed of 80 barangays.
“Hopefully this would remain at 15 but we do not know yet what is the real picture in the mountain barangays," said Del Rosario.
Del Rosario said those who perished were in their homes at the height of the typhoon but they got pinned by collapsed firewall, crane, tower and other debris.
City Councilor Jerry Guardo, meanwhile, disclosed that 95 percent of the roads in the city are already passable.
