5.3-magnitude quake hits eastern New Guinea region, Papua New Guinea:


HONG KONG -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 jolted eastern New Guinea region, Papua New Guinea at 01:36:25 GMT on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 231.78 km, was initially determined to be at 5.3659 degrees south latitude and 146.8427 degrees east longitude.
