San Juan LGU leads TUPAD payout

A number of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries received their financial aid on Tuesday, Nov. 30, after rendering work in San Juan City as as a way of helping them earn a living amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, his sister Atty. Bel Zamora, Vice Mayor Warren Villa, members of Team Makabagong San Juan, and officials from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), led the payout at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

According to Zamora, each beneficiary received P7,518 each while barangay employees such as tanods, street sweepers, and barangay health workers will be receiving financial assistance amounting to P3,000 each in the next few days after all requirements are processed.

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go also attended the event with senatorial aspirants Robin Padilla and Rey Langit as they gave away bikes, tablets, shoes, food packs and vitamins to the beneficiaries.

The TUPAD program is a community-based package of assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that provides emergency employment for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be rendered.
