San Beda University - Manila becomes a certified 'kakampink'

The list of universities showing support to the 2022 presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo keeps on growing with San Beda University - Manila (SBU) identifying itself as the latest “kakampink.”

On Facebook, SBU - Manila on Thursday, Dec. 2, posted that the university lighted up in pink on Wednesday evening, Dec. 1.

According to The Bedan, SBU Vice President for Administration Fr. Aelred Nilo, OSB said that Bedan Community is “one in support of VP Leni’s presidential bid, believing that she embodies the Benedictine ideals of pax, ora et labora and the genuine servant-leadership qualities that the Filipino nation is yearning for especially during this troubled time.”

Pink has been the color closely associated to Robredo since she announced her presidential bid for next year’s elections.

Aside from SBU, other higher education institutions (HEIs) such as Adamson University (AdU), the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Universidad de Sta. Isabel (USI) and Ateneo de Naga University (AdNU) also illuminated their buildings in pink to show support for Robredo.

“Kakampink” is a play on words “kakampi” (ally) and pink, Robredo’s campaign color.

Those who support Robredo’s presidential bid wear the color pink and call themselves “kakampink.”

They also incorporate the said color to various activities to campaign for the Vice President and gather more supporters.
