The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has initiated relief operations in the provinces devastated by typhoon "Odette".
In a statement, the PCG said that its largest and offshore patrol vessel, BRP Gabriela Silang (OVP-8301), will leave Port Area, Manila at noon today to deliver relief items to Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, the Dinagat Islands, Siargao Island, Southern Leyte, Cebu, and Bohol.
On Dec. 18, the PCG has already started to deploy its assets to help in rescue and relief operations conducted in regions badly hit by the typhoon.
PCG's BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407) and BRP Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408) have been sent to deliver relief supplies to affected communities in Mindanao while the BRP Bagacay (MRRV-4410), another Parola-class patrol vessel, was deployed to Davao to transport relief supplies.
The BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401) also left for Cebu to deliver relief supplies, gasoline, communication equipment, and oil spill dispersants in response to a request from the Coast Guard District Central Visayas.
BRP Nueva Vizcaya (SARV 3502), an Ilocos Norte-class patrol boat, will also bring DSWD relief materials to Negros Island, which was also devastated by "Odette."
Aerial inspections of Kabangkalan City in Negros Occidental were also conducted by the PCG using its Cessna plane.
The OCG said it is currently accepts monetary and relief goods donations. They also accept in-kind donations such as food packs, rice grains, purified drinking water, blankets, tents, vitamins, toiletries, slippers, and clean clothes.

In-kind donations should be brought to Coast Guard Base Farola, Muelle dela Industria Farola Compound, Binondo, Manila).” PCG said.
