ILOILO CITY — Typhoon Odette has damaged more than P14 million in the agriculture and fishery sectors.
Based on the initial data released by the Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office ( Iloilo PDRRMO), more than half the Php 14 million worth of damages is on rice crops or P7.6 million.

It is followed by damages in corn products worth at least P6 million.
There was also damage to fishing boats in coastal towns. At least P710,000.
There were also damages in other crops such as bananas and papayas worth P32,000 as well as poultry and fowls worth more than P6,000.
Per area, the towns of Ajuy, Balasan and Concepcion have the top three highest in agri-fishery damages.
While Iloilo province was placed under Storm Signal No. 3 for Typhoon Odette, the damages were not as bad as in previous typhoons.
Iloilo PDRRMO also recorded more than 270 houses that were totally damaged in the 42 towns and component city of Passi. There were also 12,912 houses that were partially damaged.
But Iloilo PDRRMO Chief Jerry Bionat said that the numbers may change as reports are still coming in.
