Manila mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Saturday, Dec. 18, thanked the Manileños for extending aid to families affected by the Typhoon Odette following his call for donations.

Domagoso earlier appealed to Manilenos, local businessmen, and volunteer groups supporting his presidential bid to initiate “Tulong ng Manilenyo sa mga Nasalanta ni Odette” as a fund-raising activity to assist residents affected by the typhoon in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
“Maraming Salamat sa mga nagpadala ng tulong! Tuloy tuloy po ang ating isinasagawang Bayanihan para sa mga kababayan nating nasalanta ng Bagyong Odette sa Visayas at Mindanao (Thank you to those who extended help! We will continue to carry out Bayanihan for our compatriots devastated by Typhoon Odette in Visayas and Mindanao),” Domagoso said in a Facebook post.
Hundreds of sacks of rice and boxes of food donations were brought in the repacking station along P. Noval Street.
Some Manileños also chose to donate the Christmas boxes they received from the city government to the victims.
Domagoso also thanked Vice mayor Dr. Honey Lacuna for immediately passing the resolution allocating P2.5 million in aid for the relief operations in Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, and Surigao del Norte.
On Saturday, Domagoso flew to Cebu City to personally hand-over the boxes of medicines and vitamins to Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
The P1 million allotted by the local government of Manila for typhoon victims in Cebu province was also given to Garcia.
Domagoso also gave an additional P1 million personal donation for the province’s relief operations.
“Thankful as we are that Metro Manila and Luzon were spared by the Typhoon Odette, I now appeal to kind-hearted Manilenos to share whatever they can for our Visayan and Mindanao brothers severely affected by the typhoon,” Domagoso said.
