Coaching legend Ato Badolato passes away Sunday due to heart failure. He was 74.
The multi-titled San Beda Red Cubs mentor underwent angioplasty a few weeks back and has been hospitalized last month due to difficulty of breathing.
News of Badolato’s passing immediately spread on social media, with San Beda team manager Jude Roque confirming it on a Facebook post.
“Sad day for the Bedan community as legendary high school basketball coach Ato Badolato passes away. RIP coach Ato,” Roque wrote.
Badolato coached the Red Cubs to numerous NCAA high school basketball championships and also served as UAAP commissioner on several occasions.
He has coached notable players such as Ronnie Magsanoc, LA Tenorio, Renren Ritualo and Benjie Paras, to name a few.
