Kiefer, Shiga end slump

Kiefer Ravena and the Shiga Lakestars finally ended their 11-game skid after a 76-72 home win over the Yokohama B-Corsairs in Japan’s B.League action held Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Ukaru-chan Arena.

Ravena’s three-point play with 26 seconds left broke a 72-all tie as the Lakestars won for the first time since they defeated Ray Parks Jr. and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins on the road last October.

He finished with 20 points and eight assists for the Lakestars, who improved to seven victories and 13 losses.

Parks and the Diamond Dolphins got the better of Dwight Ramos and the Toyama Grouses with a 90-85 home victory at Dolphins Arena.

The former UAAP and ASEAN Basketball League Most Valuable Player had 15 points, two rebounds and three assists to give Nagoya its 13th win in 20 matches.

Ramos posted 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the defeat that put Toyama at 7-13.

Thirdy Ravena and the San-En Neophoenix fell to 3-17 following a 90-85 loss to Osaka Evessa. Ravena posted eight points and three rebounds.

Victory also eluded Kobe Paras and Niigata Albirex anew after going down 88-76 to the Hiroshima Fireflies. Paras, who had seven points, and Niigata now hold the league’s worst record at 2-18.

Matthew Aquino only had one rebound in 17 minutes for the Shinshu Brave Warriors in their 91-71 defeat to the Shimane Susanoo Magic while Javi Gomez de Liano only played seven minutes in the Ibaraki Robots’ 79-73 defeat to Alvark Tokyo.

In the second division, Kemark Carino played less than five minutes in the Aomori Wat’s 109-64 loss to Fighting Eagles Nagoya while Juan Gomez de Liano was not in action for Earthfriends Tokyo Z, which absorbed an 81-77 setback to Bambitious Nara.
