Bongbong appeals to electric coops: Send help to areas by affected by 'Odette'

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has called on electric cooperatives in Luzon and Mindanao spared from the onslaught of Typhoon "Odette" to send help to areas affected for immediate restoration of their power supply.

"In the spirit of unity, I appeal to all coops who were not affected by the onslaught of the typhoon to help in restoring electric power in the areas badly hit by the calamity so we can all have a brighter Christmas," Marcos Jr. said in a statement.

According to him, linemen and materials must be sent to the affected provinces.

The presidential aspirant expressed belief that in times of difficulty, the Filipino spirit of Bayanihan naturally comes out.

"We have been to a lot of challenges as a nation in the past, and each time, our spirit of 'pagkakaisa and bayanihan' (unity and cooperation) kept us together. We will persevere and we will get through this stronger and more unified," he said.

Typhoon Odette left more than three million Filipinos without electricity, according to Energy Usec. Wimpy Fuentebella. Around 490,000 of them are in the Visayas, while the rest are from Mindanao.
