ILOILO CITY — Typhoon Odette has passed, but at least 416,988 persons were affected by its aftermath in Western Visayas region.
In a data released by the Western Visayas Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (Western Visayas RDRRMC), the 416,988 individuals are 105,702 families.

The Western Visayas RDRRMC headed by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD-6) found that 1,377 barangays (villages) in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod were affected by Odette.
The province of Negros Occidental is the most badly affected as 147,017 persons were affected by Odette with massive flooding.
In Capiz province, at least 96,501 persons were affected.
There were also 80,354 persons affected in Iloilo province; 46,554 persons affected in Antique province; 42,366 persons in Aklan province; and 4,196 persons in Guimaras province.
Based on the latest data, at least 3,700 houses across Western Visayas were damaged by Odette. This consisted of 3,543 partially damaged houses and 160 totally damaged houses. The number might be higher as Western Visayas RDRRMC is still awaiting for consolidated report from Negros Occidental.
