30th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Estonia
The diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Estonia was formally established in December 19, 1991.
The Republic of Estonia is situated in northeastern Europe in the Baltic region comprising of 1,500 islands and islets. Its capital and largest city is Tallin which is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe.
The Philippines is among the world’s largest archipelago nations with 7,640 islands. Manila is the capital where historical events on colonization took place and became a center of the trans-pacific silver trade for more than three centuries.
As the Republic of Estonia is in the forefront of digital transformation, these areas are strengthened by bilateral cooperation between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Estonia in the areas of cyber security and inter-operability of e-commerce networks.
Cooperation in these areas are bringing out the support between the Republic of Estonia and the Republic of the Philippines in banking and efficient collection of taxes which is in the forefront of the e-commerce thrust of the two nations.
As Estonia is a part of the European Union and a member of the NATO, other areas are marked benefits for mutual strengthening of ties on the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two nations.
