200 Zamboanga homes damaged in storm surge

Some 200 homes along Zamboanga city’s eastern coastline were damaged due to a storm surge spawned by tropical storm Odette.

Social Welfare and Development Officer Socorro Rojas said the Zamboanga local government provided assistance to 206 affected families residing in puroks 1 to 5 of Barangay Labuan.

CSWD data stated that 120 houses were destroyed while 86 incurred partial damage.

Barangay Labuan officials and police personnel assisted CSWD personnel in conducting assessment and providing assistance to the affected families.

Zamboanga City experienced rain showers and thunderstorms brought by Odette last Friday but strong winds and huge waves damaged houses along its eastern coastline.
