Philippine Red Cross Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sen. Richard Gordon tasked the organization to deploy its humanitarian caravan to Surigao del Norte and Bohol which were severely affected by Typhoon "Odette", it said on Saturday, Dec. 18.

The said caravan is composed of 17 people, a water tanker, two hot meals on wheels food trucks, a payloader, an ambulance, a tractor head with low bed trailer, a wheeler cargo truck with shelter tool kit and a generator inside, and a 6x6 truck to boost the PRC's response and provide much-needed relief to the typhoon affected areas.
“The 4Ps-predict, plan, prepare, and practice are instilled in every volunteer and staff from the Philippine Red Cross. When it comes to disasters and emergencies, we are always first, always ready, and always there,” Gordon said.
"No matter what happens, the Red Cross will remain unstoppable, we will continue to innovate and plan ahead so that we can best serve our mission to help our people, especially the most vulnerable,” he added.
PRC continues to appeal for donations as it is currently preparing rescue equipment, medical tents, mosquito nets, sleeping kits, food packs and other relief items as these will be sent over to affected areas.
