NLEX goes for 4-0 start; SMB eyes second straight win

NLEX looks to equal the best start in franchise history when it battles Terrafirma Saturday, Dec. 18 in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Road Warriors seek to win their 3 p.m. match against the Dyip and go 4-0 for the first since the 2017 edition of the season-ending conference.

San Miguel Beer guns for a second straight victory after a 0-2 start at 5:30 p.m. versus Blackwater, which will try to once again snap its record losing streak that now stands at 22 straight.

KJ McDaniels has been mainly responsible for the Road Warriors’ hot start, averaging 33.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.7 blocks in three games this conference.

He continued his impressive performance last Wednesday against former team TNT with 33 points and eight rebounds in the thrilling 102-100 victory.

Terrafirma will attempt to spoil NLEX’s bid and bounce back from a 114-87 loss to Magnolia Pambansang Manok also held Wednesday.

Meanwhile, San Miguel finally broke in the win column the past weekend at the expense of former player Arwind Santos and NorthPort, 91-88, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Beermen are still in an adjustment mode after acquiring Vic Manuel and Simon Enciso and Chris Ross still in the United States due to a family matter.

Blackwater lost three straight to begin the conference under interim coach Ariel Vanguardia.
