Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is holding out hope that Stanley Pringle’s knee injury will not be as serious as it was initially diagnosed.

Coach Tim Cone revealed that Pringle, who sat out Ginebra’s 108-82 win over NorthPort Friday, Dec. 17, underwent another MRI after he was initially diagnosed to have suffered an ACL tear.

“The initial one which almost stopped my heart was he had an ACL injury,” Cone said, also telling that the wear and tear coupled with a collision with MJ Ayaay in a recent practice contributed to the injury.

“We had another look at it, and now they say they don’t believe it’s an ACL injury. But we need more information. We don’t know if it is severe, it could be a few weeks or it could be six or eight months.

“So we are all a little shaky right now. But when the initial diagnosis came out it was like ‘Wow, it’s devastating.’ But now, we find out that it might be something else.”

Pringle has been a major part of Ginebra’s successful title runs in the 2019 Governors’ Cup and 2020 Philippine Cup, the latter resulting in a Best Player of the Conference award.

The previous week saw Pringle bucked a 3-of-10 shooting and seven points to score the go-ahead basket that helped Ginebra take an 80-77 win over Alaska at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

He is the latest Ginebra player on the injury list, joining Joe Devance (knee), Jared Dillinger (patellar tendon), Mark Caguioa (calf) and Aljon Mariano (foot).
