Cebu Airport still closed due to damage from 'Odette'
Operations at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) are still suspended "until further notice" due to the damage caused during the onslaught of Typhoon "Odette."

"The airport is undergoing damage assessment and debris clean up activities to ensure the safety of passengers and staff once operations are permitted to resume," the MCIA said in its advisory.
It also reminded passengers not to proceed to the airport until the resumption of flights are announced.
The MCIA has been temporarily closed since early Thursday night, Dec. 16, as the typhoon ravaged most parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, bringing strong winds and massive floods.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) earlier directed its attached agencies to suspend land, sea, and air travel in areas on the track of the typhoon.
In its 5 a.m. update on Saturday, Dec. 18, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the center of Odette was estimated at 240 kilometers west-northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
It still has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
PAGASA added that "continuous weakening may ensue beginning Sunday (Dec. 19) as the typhoon becomes exposed to increasing vertical wind shear and the surge of the northeast monsoon."
